Intelligent robotic cell for trencadis mosaics manufacturing

The purpose of this project is the development of an application for the complete automation of mosaics manufacturing process with irregular random pieces, so called trencad´is.
An intelligent robotic cell has been implemented by using artificial intelligence and pattern recognition techniques to assembly unpredictable objects in an autonomous manner.
The application uses the camera mounted in the robot-arm to acquire an image of a piece. It is necessary to convert the physical pieces of broken tiles that are used in the production cell, to a logical piece representation that can be used by the assembly place processing unit. To do that the geometry of the piece is recognizedand characterized at the object recognitionprocess.
